If you are reading this, let me just say HI! I am so excited that you are here and I am grateful to share my thoughts, ideas, vision, dreams, and all things about life with YOU! This blog will not be limited to “‘Kinderdance by Zaribel’’ stories. This space will be filled with inspiration of all kinds as I let you in closer into my life and all the different parts in it.
If you know me or have heard of me, you’ve probably heard ‘’she’s a dance teacher’’ and today I want to talk about that. When I started Kinderdance By Zaribel in 2018, I knew there were other dance studios in our city and some pretty talented and skilled dance teachers. Despite comments and other people’s opinions, that never bothered me, made me feel in competition or threatened, and the reason why is because Kinderdance is not your typical dance studio and I know I’m not the best or most skilled dance teacher. Neither of these two things has ever been a goal of mine or what I envisioned when I started my business. Kinderdance programs are different and our focus is on the child. Let me share more with you…
I brought the kinderdance programs to our city because I wanted to bring a recreational program, a program where children did not have a deadline or feel the pressure to perform. I wanted to offer a space for children to be children. I have created exactly what I had envisioned, a place where children are met where they are, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Yes, we dance, but we dance because it is fun! We teach basic dance technique, don’t get me wrong and they learn many other things, but my main goal is for my students to build self-confidence, build strong muscles and minds as well as making them feel loved and accepted for who they are. Dancing, moving, talking, exploring, and being CREATIVE, that’s how children learn. Kinderdance allows this for them.
We live in a world that is always loud, always busy, always pushing us to be everything but ourselves. We learn how to please others at a very early age. We learn how to pretend and perform, so we can avoid causing any tension, and because we want to feel loved and accepted. We go lengthy ways to be known, heard, and accepted in this world. We are taught at a very early age to perform well so we can be rewarded. When children walk into my building, my goal is for them to leave all their worries at the door and just be. I want them to have fun and I also want them to learn. I want them to make friends, I want them to feel heard, I want them to feel proud of who they are. I want them to know they are loved for who they are, not for what they can do. This is what and why I work so hard for because our children are truly our future and they are a million times worth it.
I feel privileged to partner with my students and their parents in shaping who they will become in the future. When they walk into my building, I not only see them for who they are today but all they can and will be in the future. I want to foster what they love so that I can help them be all they can be.
So, no, I am not the best dance teacher, & I don’t want to be. I want to be the best me I can be. No labels, just me. I want to love my students the way I do. I want to continue to create the best experience for them, one that fits their needs and abilities. I will continue to meet them where they are and help them be all they can be. I love what I do because of who I do it with and I would not change a thing, not for anything else in this world!
